Respiratory Illness is one of the biggest threats to children in third world countries, as inhaling smoke from their mother's cooking fires is "equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes a day" (1). Cutting down wood contributes to deforestation, uses up precious human energy (how much energy do you have once the the thermostat hits 30-40 degrees?) and time that could be spent more productively. There's an incredibly practical and simple solution: stoves!
