| Shampoo, for instance, is full of chemicals that dry out your hair and get rid of your body's natural moisturizers so that you need conditioner - how messed up is that? Cover up or foundation might hide your acne for the day, but if you're not careful, it'll only clog your pours and make matters worse! Anti-antiperspirant contains aluminum that is a known carcinogen, and we are expected to put it on our absorbent armpit glands - right next to our breasts?! Um... hello?! Breasts + Carcinogens = Breast Cancer? Gandhi told us to "be the change you wish to see in the world," and so let me share a couple things that I have done to change my ways (and please feel free to share your tips in the comments section). |
1. Save your coffee grounds and use them as an exfoliant - the beans have lots of natural oils to moisturize as they gently massage away dead skin and its safe to use on your entire body, even your lips! Feel good about being in a global economy and drink fair trade coffee : )
2. Get yourself an all-natural deodorant like JĀSÖN calming lavender deodorant stick, and say good bye to putting carcinogens next to your breasts.
3. Save loads of money by quitting your addiction to shampoo and conditioner. There are loads of websites with different recipes for cleaning your hair, but natural products like Avalon Rosemary Shampoo (with no phosphates, etc) is my favourite.
4. Stop worrying about make up and just smile! It doesn't matter how much MAC you smear on your face, if you're scowling, you will look like a sack of angry potatoes. If you need a reason to smile, think of how much money and many little plastic bottles you are saving from going into the landfill or incinerators, just by changing your attitude!
